Cross Country (XC) is a Summer/Fall sport in which runners compete in distance races on non-paved running paths (i.e. grass). Races range in length from 1 mile (elementary) to 2 mile (middle school) to 5k (high school). Patriots Running (XC/Track) is a volunteer led program designed to challenge homeschool students to grow in their running abilities, self-discipline and sportsmanship. Each athlete will be challenged to compete while also developing a camaraderie with each other, a love for running and personal character growth. Cross Country does not hold try outs. Any athlete who is interested in participating, willing to work hard and uphold the team's values is welcome to join. Prior experience is not required however middle and high school participants should be capable of running a full 2 miles/5k respectively prior to the first practice. All middle and high school athletes are expected to participate in at home summer conditioning beginning the last week of May. Registration for the 2025 season will open for returning runners on July 1 and new runners on July 10. A link to registration will be posted on this website under each age level. Once you register, you will automatically be added to the team communication app: Teamsnap. All families are required to download and use this app as it will be the mode of all team communication throughout the season. Participation in all CSTHEA sports requires an annual family membership of $20. You may join by clicking the "Support CSTHEA" tab above. The support and involvement of parents can transform a good season to a great season! You can help your athlete by being supportive and acting as a good role model. Encourage thorough training including warm-ups, stretching, running, and cool downs; adequate rest; healthy meals; drinking plenty of water. As a parent, you will be asked to help at practices and meets. This could be organizing snacks for big meets or planning a team breakfast or dinner. Cheer for your athlete and for the team at meets. Applaud improvement, as it will surely come. At the end of the season, make every effort to attend the end of season party. Your athlete will appreciate your interest in their sport.
